Afternoon Sports Coordinator for adults
and teens
Description
of Tasks:
1).
Before the conference: Call
the Northfield School Contact (what's the name/number? A member of the
Executive Committee can tell you) and arrange to have appropriate equipment
(i.e. Frisbees, soccer balls, basketballs, volleyballs, cones, pinnies/mesh
jerseys, etc.) available for use. Also, have the school set up the volleyball
nets behind the garage on the side of Gould.
2).
During the Conference: Decide
(with input from the Coordinator and others) what games to play each day and
have them announced in the morning during ingathering. Gather all together at
one o'clock and facilitate the beginning of the game. Be there in case anyone
needs assistance.
3)
At the end of the conference:
Arrange to have all equipment returned to the school.
General
Things to Keep in Mind: The
games that have gone over well in the last two years are Capture the Flag,
Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball and timate Frisbee. Capture the Flag is very popular with the
"younger" teens but there have been injuries in the last two years.
Everyone should have fun. At times feelings can be hurt when picking turns as
some people may be left out.
One
possibility would be to link all 5 days' worth of activities into
some kind of Olympics,
though possibly that would get too competitive. The group could split into
teams (2-3) and have 10 fun things to do (not all involving
athletics) .
